Lottery Funding for Sweffling’s Celebration Tea

Lottery Funding for Sweffling: – to Celebrate the Dedication and Unveiling of the WW1 Plaque on The Village Hut with a Celebration Tea

‘Celebrate’ is a new £5m grant programme that launched in July 2016 from the Big Lottery Fund for communities across the UK to celebrate what makes their local neighbourhood great. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase something important to the community, an iconic building, a precious landscape, a unique service or a community hero.

Swefling Parish Council decided in 2013 that they wanted to mark the centenary of WW1 and one of the ideas was to recognise the importance of the Village Hut, by having a unique plaque made with donations from parishioners.

It was thought appropriate to follow this with a celebration tea in the newly refurbished Hut. When the Parish Council heard about the lottery funding opportunity, it seemed a good idea to apply. We were delighted to be awarded money from the Big Lottery ‘Celebrate’ Fund for a Posh Tea.

The plaque is to be unveiled and dedicated on the afternoon of Remembrance Sunday, 13th November at 3 pm, followed by Tea

The Parish Council who are organising this event hope that as many people as possible from the village will be able to come. All ages are welcome.

Parish Councillors will be present so that it will be an opportunity to meet them and chat about current village issues. There are several new families who have recently moved in and it will be good to get to know them.

Please book your places (see details on back cover) We have made this a “Ticketed” event as numbers for the Posh Tea must be confirmed with the caterers by 4th November. Tickets are free, so make sure you don’t miss out.
